BMW Notches Lackluster February Sales
However, sales of the carmaker's Greer-made X5 SUV was a bright spot.

BMW's sales of it's SC-made light trucks totaled 21,311 units in February, a 0.4 percent increase compared to the same month last year, the company reported.
Year-to-date sales of all BMW brand vehicles were up 0.6 percent to 37,824 units.
A BMW executive cited February’s lousy weather, with record snowfalls in the populous Northeast, for contributing to the lackluster sales report, GSA Business reported.
But Ludwig Willisch, president and CEO of BMW North America, said he remained optimistic.
“The February results showed there’s a strong underlying demand ready to fuel momentum in the coming months,” Willisch said. “We’ll all be glad to leave the harsh February weather behind and welcome spring and the new models that come with it.”
Among the bright spots in BMW's report was the sales increase for the X5 SUV, one of three light-truck models built at its Spartanburg County plant. The mid-sized vehicle notched an increase of 21.9 percent to 3,931 units, the company reported.
Meantime, sales for the other two models built at the facility — the X3 and X6 — fell for the month. X3 sales tumbled 23.2 percent to 2,175 units while the X6 dropped 5.6 percent to 474 vehicles.
