Book Sale To Fund Literacy Association Program

The Greenville Literacy Association will hold a book sale and preview party at McAlister Square next month to fund its English as a Second Language program.

The Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) will open its doors early for a special preview party before its annual Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale. The party will take place at McAlister Square on Aug. 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., allowing attendees to be among the first to browse and purchase a wide selection of books before the doors open to the general public the following morning. Proceeds from the party will directly support the GLA’s mission to provide quality instruction in reading, writing, math and English as a Second Language (ESL).

“We’ve hosted the book sale for 11 years, but this is the first time we’ve opened the preview party to the public,” said Jane Thomas, executive director of the Greenville Literacy Association. “The party is a great way for people not only to shop in our huge selection of books, but also to mingle with other Greenville book lovers and literacy advocates.”

The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale will feature more than 130,000 books, including hardback and paperback books of any genre, as well as encyclopedias and audio books.

Admission for the preview party is $30 per person or $55 per couple. While open to the public, tickets must be purchased in advance by calling GLA at 864-467-3456 or online at greenvilleliteracy.org. Light hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine will be served.
