Campaign: Reece Will Be On November Ballot

Campaign officials for Tommie Reece, who started what she readily acknowledged as a long shot petition drive to get on the ballot in the general election, tell Patch they believe they will successfully meet the required signatures.

Senior campaign officials for Tommie Reece said Saturday that they believe she will hit the 2,949 petition signatures needed to compete against Mike Fair in November's general election.

The source, who spoke on the condition her name not be published, said they believe Reece will successfully turn in enough signatures, but that the campaign is still encouraging more people to sign the petition to help ensure Reece will still meet the mark in the event some of the signatures are disqualified.

Reece, a current Greenville County School Board member who was once on the ballot in the GOP primary race for the Senate 6 seat currently held by Fair, was just three days before the June 12 primary because she hadn't filed her statement of economic interest form at the exact same time she declared her candidacy. She's one of many decertified candidates across the Upstate who had through a petition drive.

Reece is expected to drive to Columbia Sunday afternoon to turn in the petition signatures.
