City Administrator Loses Diamond Deal to Greer Lady
Jennifer Humphrey of Greer was excited to win the perfectly cut stone, but would she take a deal?
Up for grabs at Thursday's Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Celebration was a one-carat diamond from Just For You Jewelers in Greer.
Everyone in attendance had a chance to win. But there can only be one person who walks away with the prize.

Throughout the evening, chamber members offered attendees the opportunity to buy extra tickets. Each ticket offered one more chance to win the rock.
Humphrey decided to purchase one extra ticket.
City Administrator Ed Driggers purchased at least four. He walked away without the diamond, but not before trying to make a deal.
Driggers walked up to the two finalists and offered them $500 each for the prize. They both told him to keep walking, unless he was willing to pay more.
The three debated for a few moments. Finally, Driggers shook his head "no" at the counter-offer of $1,500 and quickly took his seat.
When asked what she was going to do with the diamond, Humphrey laughed and said, "I'm supposed to give it to Rita Danner."
Rita Danner, the wife of Mayor Rick Danner, hugged her neighbor and congratulated her on the win.
Maybe Danner will have better luck than Driggers in closing that deal.
We will be posting the winner's for the Small Business Awards later today, so be sure to check back!
