City Of Greer: Clemson And Georgia Among Teams Competing In Inaugural Christmas 7s Tournament

Hosted by the City of Greer and the Greer 76ers Rugby Club, the tournament will feature 7s matches in four divisions from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Included will be college, high school boys and girls, and high school junior varsity teams.

Clemson University (two squads), the University of Georgia, Western Carolina University, and Lander University will compete, while teams from 

Indiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina make up the high school field.  

“Viewers may be familiar with 15s matches, which include more than twice as many players per team as 7s matches,” tournament director Cory Holtzclaw said. “Fans at the tournament should expect fast-paced matches that last just 15 minutes each. That concentrated action will make this a perfect event for novice fans and rugby veterans alike.”

The setting will transition on Sunday to a USA Rugby South camp from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. At that event, top high school players will showcase their skills to USA Rugby South staff with the hope of advancing their rugby careers
