Erika Shelton allegedly had her 7-year-old daughter toss drugs out of her car window as she fled police. Soon after she did, her child was ejected from the vehicle.

Erika Shelton, the mother Spartanburg County deputies say was driving an SUV that wrecked during a chase Monday, was officially charged in the crash that killed her daughter, Fox Carolina reports.
Shelton was driving the SUV on Monday morning when a Spartanburg County deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop. When he did, Shelton reportedly led deputies on a chase on Interstate 85. During the chase, Shelton reportedly had her 7-year-old daughter, Queniya Shelton, unbuckle her seatbelt and toss at least a half-pound of marijuana out of the window. Shortly after she did, the SUV wrecked, ejecting the child. She died from her injuries.
Shelton faces charges of failure to stop for a blue light involving death, unlawful neglect of a child, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, driving under suspension, reckless driving and being a habitual traffic offender.
