Dreher Too Much For Wade Hampton Girls In State Title Game
Despite leading after the first quarter, the Wade Hampton girls basketball team was outmatched in an 82-50 drubbing in Columbia.

Coming into Saturday night, 's girls basketball team had been nearly unbeatable, carrying a 27-1 record into the state title game.
By 8:15 p.m. Saturday, the Generals looked plenty human, after being humbled by a Dreher High School team that proved to simply be too much for WHHS.
Dreher won the AAA girls state title Saturday 82-50. The Generals were up 13-7 after a low-scoring first quarter, but their dreams were soon shattered, as Dreher began its domination in the second quarter.

After holding the Generals to just 9 second quarter points, Dreher was up 28-22 at halftime. It was all downhill from there.
The Generals never mounted a serious threat against Dreher in the second half, with DHS building its lead to 50-33 by the end of the third quarter.

Dreher's girls, sensing blood in the water, pressed on with a frenetic pace and scored 32 more points in the fourth quarter.
The Generals ended their season with a 27-2 record, having won the Peach Blossom Region, as well as the Upper State title.
