UPDATE: Eastside Band Director Resigns, Charged With Sex With Student

A $10,00 bond was been set for Brandon Scott Poston during a hearing Thursday night at the Greenville County Detention Center.

Eastside High's band director has resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct with a student.
Brandon Scott Poston, 30, of Greenville has been charged with sexual battery of a student.

Poston resigned his positions as the band director at Eastside High School and also of Greenville Middle Academy Wednesday, according to Greenville County Schools spokesman Oby Lyles.
Lyles said that the district was made aware of the allegations on Tuesday and turned all the information over to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies began an immediate investigation.
According to deputies, school personnel received a tip from a citizen that Poston may be involved in an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old student.
Deputies said that through the course of the investigation information was obtained confirming that Poston did engage in sexual battery on more than one occasion with the victim in this case beginning Feb. 20 through May 30. The incident occurred at Poston's home at 3203 Glen Forest Drive and also at Comfort Inn at 831 Congaree Road, deputies said.
Poston is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
Sexual Battery with a Student is defined as a person affiliated with a public or private secondary school in an official capacity who has direct supervisory authority over a student enrolled in the school who is 18 years of age or older, and the person affiliated with the public or private secondary school in an official capacity engages in sexual battery with the student. This offense is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more that five years.
