Firefighters Chase Purse Snatcher

A woman got her purse back from a thief after Wade Hampton firefighters chased him down.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is crediting the Wade Hampton Fire Department with helping get a woman her purse back after a young man tried to steal it from her Tuesday. 

Public Information Officer Laura Campbell said that at 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to the at 3715 East North Street in reference to a purse snatching that had just occured there. 

An unidentified white male, between the ages of 15 and 21, with shaggy brown hair and wearing a white-shirt and black shorts, took a woman's purse there and tried to run away with it.

Personnel with the Wade Hampton Fire Department, however, briefly assisted in the chase of the suspect, who dropped the purse during the pursuit. The chase ended with the victim deciding not to pursue any charges. 

The suspect fled the scene.
