First 50 Customers Get Free Groceries at Food Lion

The promotion, which runs through Saturday, is part of the Food Lion's grand re-opening and launch of a new product strategy.

Food Lion will celebrate the re-opening of 269 stores by providing the first 50 customers at each store location a bag of free groceries.

The promotion, which runs through Saturday, celebrates a new brand strategy based on customer surveys.

Food Lion in Greer is one of the stores that will celebrate with a grand re-opening. In addition to the free groceries, the company will also donate $5,000 to the Harvest Hope Food Bank in Greenville.

“We invite customers to visit their local Food Lion, where they will experience firsthand the enhancements we have made in our stores,"  Cathy Green Burns, president of Food Lion. "We are committed to being recognized as a price leader, making our stores easier to shop, offering the greatest value in store brands and providing the freshest produce. We are pleased to bring the strategy to our hometown markets, where we have served Food Lion customers for 55 years.”

In addition to improvements in the stores and products, the company also created 800 jobs throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
