Flesh-Eating Bacteria Victim Returns Home

Aimee Copeland now back home in her suburban Atlanta home after spending more than three months fighting a rare disease.

A 24-year-old Georgia woman who has spent the last three months recuperating from a rare, flesh-eating disease is back home, WSPA reports. 

Aimee Copeland's father, Andy, said his daughter was in high spirits as she returned to the family's Smellville home, complete with a new 2,000 square foot addition made specifically for Aimee.   

The Copelands live in Georgia, Andy is formerly of Spartanburg.

Copeland is undergoing rehab following a lengthy hospital stay. Copeland, 24, lost all of her left leg, her right foot, and both hands. The limbs were amputated after Copeland contracted necrotizing fasciitis, a disease caused by a flesh-eating bacterium that entered a wound on Copeland's leg following a zipline accident.
