Former U.S. House Speaker, Presidential Hopeful Gingrich stopping in the Upstate

Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich is making a stop in the Upstate.

On Friday, Gingrich will chat up the afternoon crowd at Chick-fil-A, 3890 Pelham Road in Greenville.

The discussion on jobs and the economy will begin at 2 p.m.

Gingrich has not visited the Upstate since the summer, and Charleston on multiple occasions.

Gingrich, who has been working to revive his campaign, told Iowa voters on Tuesday that he was like the character in the movie, "Sixth Sense," according to the Des Moines Register.

Gingrich, who has lagged behind in most polls, said that recent presidential debates had generated new interest in his campaign. Gingrich said he is the candidate with most experience and said his campaign will be resurrected, the paper reported.

 Gingrich has raised $16,460 in South Carolina. He told the Los Angeles Times in a Tuesday article that his fundraising was on an "upswing," saying the campaign had raised more money in October than in the previous three months.

The Boston Globe also reported reported Gingrich had signed to get on New Hampshire's presidential primary ballot and also signed a pledge to cut taxes, spending and the size of government.
