Former USC Golfer Wins BMW Pro-Am

Mark Anderson of Beaufort claimed his first Web.com Tour title Sunday.

A former South Carolina All-American Mark Anderson claimed his first career Web.com Tour title Sunday.

Anderson won by five strokes at the BMW Charity Pro-Am at the Thornblade Club.

“To get that first professional victory is the toughest," Anderson said. "This means a lot. It’s been four years really and it’s been a struggle this year. It really hasn’t looked that great, but I felt good this week."

Anderson said that the South Carolina Junior Golf Association and the South Carolina Golf Association can take credit for his win.

"To get this victory in South Carolina is awesome. This state has done so much for me as far as golf," Anderson said. "To get it here in front of my mom, my dad and my grandparents, it couldn’t be any better."

Anderson, a native of Beaufort, set the 54-hole tournament scoring record on Saturday with a total of 194.

Anderson, a 2008 South Carolina graduate, was a two-time All-American for the Gamecocks. He was also named the SEC's Freshman of the Year in 2005.
