GCSO Explorers Turn In Top Performances At Competition

Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis issued a press release Tuesday congratulating the agency's explorers team for a strong showing in a recent competition. 

On July 21, cadets from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office competed in The National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference in Colorado. 

Program advisor Sgt. Brian Donnelly, Cadet Major Doug Beutler, Cadet Captain Kyle Quin and Master Cadet Jay Bostic represented the agency at the competition, in which 100 teams from across the country competed.

The Greenville County Sheriffs Office Cadets took first place in the Nation for the traffic stop event, and fourth place overall in the individual air pistol event. 

In 1977 the Greenville County Sheriffs Office started a Law Enforcement Explorer program for students who are 14 to 20 years of age, and are interested in Law Enforcement.  The program currently has 16 members. The Cadets in the program train on a regular basis and are tested on knowledge of South Carolina Law, and response to real life scenarios.
