Mauldin, Eastside, Wade Hampton Leaders in Greenville Exit Exams
Greenville County schools showed mixed results in the 2012 exit exams.

Results were mixed for Greenville County School District students on the S.C. exit exam.
Ten of the district's 18 high schools scored equal or better than the state average and eight scored worse. Overall, 91 percent of passing the English portion and 84.2 percent passing the mathematics portion on the first try in 2012.
At Berea High School, 88.1 percent passed English/ language arts and 79.8 passed mathematics. Nearly 250 students took the test for the first time in 2012.

At Blue Ridge Hill High School, 92.6 percent passed English/ language arts and 84.5 passed mathematics. More than 280 students took the test.
At Brashier Middle Charter School, 100 percent passed English and 97.9 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 100 students took the test.

At Carolina High Academy, 83.3 percent passed English and 74.6 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 140 students took the test.

At Greenville Tech Charter High School, 100 percent passed English and 98.1 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 110 students took the test.
At Greer High School, 85.6 percent passed English and 76.8 percent passed mathematics. More than 270 students took the test.
At Greer Middle Charter High School, 98.9 percent passed English and 97.9 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 100 students took the test.
At Hillcrest High School, 91.3 percent passed English and 81.6 percent passed mathematics. More than 550 students took the test.
At J.L. Mann High School, 92.1 percent passed English and 87.6 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 400 students took the test.
At Legacy Charter Schol High School, 92 percent passed English and 69.2 percent passed mathematics. Twenty-five students took the test.
At , 94.7 percent passed English and 89.4 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 530 students took the test.
At Riverside High School, 95.8 percent passed English and 95.0 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 380 students took the test.
At Southside High School, 83.3 percent passed English and 67.3 percent passed mathematics. More than 210 students took the test.
At Travelers Rest High School, 86.2 percent passed English and 74.2 percent passed mathematics. Nearly 320 students took the test.
At , 94.8 percent passed English and 93.8 percent passed mathematics. More than 400 students took the test.
At Woodmont High School, 86.2 percent passed English and 78 percent passed mathematics. More than 400 students took the test.
Statewide, 80.1 percent of the more than 50,000 students taking the test passed both sections on the first attempt. Nearly 90 percent passed the English/ language arts section. More than 82 percent passed the mathematics portion.
Scores increased in mathematics for every student subgroup except one, but the scores for English-Language Arts declined in every student subgroup.
“English and mathematics are the foundational subjects in education. ... Students must master skills in both subjects to be successful in their lives
after high school. To improve in both areas will require a personalized and customized education in grades K-8 so students are prepared for rigorous high school courses," said State Superintendent of Education Mick Zais in a prepared release.
High school students in South Carolina take the exit exam for the first time in the spring semester of their second year. Students cannot graduate high school in South Carolina without passing the exam.
