The size of that tax increase will not be known until August. However, the county has authorization to raise the rate up to 4.6 mills. The county has authority over a total of 47 mills so a 4.6 increase would equate to a 9% increase on county taxes.
Chamber President and CEO, Allen Smith, spoke in opposition as did 9 other individuals including Greer City Council members Wryley Bettis and Judy Albert.
