Greer Woman Charged with Impersonating DSS Worker

Greenville police said that Christine DeYoung told residents of Towers East that she was a DSS social worker in an attempt to get medication.

Greenville police have arrested a Greer woman attempting to otain medications by fraud.

Officers said that 47-year-old Christine DeYoung was going door to door in the Towers East building on Main Street impersonating a DSS worker in an attempt to get medication.

Residents told police officers that DeYoung asked questions about living conditions, food stamps and about what medications people were taking.

One resident said that when DeYoung was examining her medications she dropped them on the floor and when DeYoung turned to speak with her, she had one of the pills from the bottle in her mouth.

According to warrants, DeYoung is charged with two counts of possession of schedule I-V narcotics and one count of larceny by fraudulent impersonation of an officer.

DeYoung is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on three counts of burglary — second degree by Greer Police Department.
