Iconic Clock Drive-In Will Stay Open
Owners said he negotiated a five-year deal to keep the restaurant in business.

George Madeckas is a happy man. He's no longer thinking about unemployment for himself, his family or employees.
Why? because the iconic Clock Drive-In Wade Hampton is staying open.
"It just happened today," Madeckas, a co-owner of the Clock Drive-In, said in a phone interview. "For the next five years, we have worked with our landlord and negotiated a deal to stay right here."

Madeckas said he can't wait for customers to hear the "wonderful news."
"I can't say enough about our customers," Madeckas said. "They have been so supportive and there is no way we would have done this without them."

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, the Clock was the most popular spot for students at Wade Hampton High School.
