Inland Port, Greer Business Settle Dispute over Site

SC Ports Authority agrees to pay Nordic Cold Storage to avoid condemnation and make way for completion of the inland port.

The SC Ports Authority has agreed to pay Nordic Cold Storage in Greer $2.2 million to settle a dispute that threatened to delay completion of the inland port now under construction.

The ports authority was in the process of condemning Nordic's warehouse, which sits on land needed for the site. Nordic had sued the ports authority to stop the condemnation after a previous offer to buyout the lease was deemed too low.

Under the agreement hammered out Tuesday, the ports authority will pay the $2.2 million to buyout the remainder of Nordic's 11-year lease, in return for Nordic vacating the site to make way for the port, Greer Today reported.

The inland port being built in Greer is expected to be completed sometime in September.
