Inland Port's Condemnation Plan Sparks Lawsuit
Nordic Greer Cold Storage files suit against state Ports Authority plan to condemn its Greer location.

A Greer business is suing the state's ports authority, saying its plan to condemn the company’s leasehold interest of its current location to make way for a new inland port would be a serious blow to the company.
Atlanta-based Nordic Greer Cold Storage LLC has leased its site from the SC State Ports Authority for years. The company said Nordic’s predecessor entered a lease agreement with the Ports Authority on a 3.36-acre tract in the Greer Overland Transportation Facility to be used by Nordic for a 35,000-square-foot cold storage facility capable of handling more than 8 million pounds of cargo, according to a Greenville News report.
In its suit, the company is seeking a court order to stop the Ports Authority from condemning the company’s leasehold interest under the lease agreement.
The company contends in the suit that it hasn't been given a "commercially reasonable" timeframe to relocate its operations and that the ports authority has failed to act in good faith.
