'Jail Birds' Publisher Accused of Impersonating Deputy

David Bryant, 31, was arrested Friday morning after deputies said he claimed to work for the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

The publisher of popular newspaper filled with mug shots, may now have to publish his own photo.

"Jail Birds" publisher David Bryant, 31, of Spartanburg was arrested Friday after deputies said he allegedly claimed he worked for the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division.

According to Fox Carolina, Bryant went in to a Verizon Wireless store trying to get a free phone by telling them that he worked for both "Jail Birds" and the Sheriff's Office.

Bryant was released on a $5,000 bond Friday, according to the jail's website.
