This weekend, we are supposed to be honoring our fellow workers by relaxing at the lake or watching some college football.

But for many people, Labor Day Weekend means shopping.

And for good reason.

According to the blog, ShopItToMe, Labor Day weekend offers the best discounts online of the year: 46 percent off typical prices.

So when you're tired of the sun or the pigskin, here are some local stores where you can grab some items at a discount — in the store or online.

CLOTHING

American Eagle: 30 percent off online or in the store with code (70423781).

Belk's: Red dot, 30 percent off reduced prices. Some Lilly Pulitzer 75 percent off, though.

Claires: Clearance items up to 75 percent off/ 10 items for $10.

Famous Footwear: Buy one, get one half off + either $20 off for rewards members or 15 percent off (print coupon or online).

The Gap: 40 percent off reduced prices, high discounts throughout the store as part of the Red Bright and Blue sale. 

Lane Bryant: Real women dollars ($25 for $25 spent) and buy one, get one free online.

The Limited: 40 percent off clearance, free pants or skirt with the purchase of a blazer.

ELECTRONICS

Best Buy: Sale prices on many items in the store and online.

GameStop: Sale prices on many items in the store and online.

HHGregg: Up to 25 percent off on appliances, TVs and mattresses (+ 5 percent more for purchases of $499 and more).

HOME & GARDEN

Home Depot: Sale prices on many items in the store and online.
