Man Charged After Shooting While Drinking
Spartanburg deputies were called to a home after shots were fired at a Greer home.

A Greer man was arrested Sunday after deputies said he was using a handgun while he had been drinking.
William J. Gayer Jr., 33, of 1971 Fond Hart St., Greer, was charged with firearm use while under the influence.
Deputies responded to a call for shots fired at 1961 Fond Hart St. in Greer. According to the report, Gayer fired about eight shots behind his house. His neighbors said that he did not know if he was being shot at.

Deputies said when they went to talk to Gayer, there was no answer. Another resident of the home said that Gayer was in bed. The report said that Gayer came into the living room staggering and was asked where his gun was? Gayer was very hestitant about answering, but stated that it was on a dresser in his bedroom.
After being read his rights, Gayer stated that he did fire a handgun outside to scare his neighbors who he has been having problems with at the time.

Resident Beheler who is Gayer's f Fiancee said that Gayer had been drinking most of the evening inside their home. Gayer also stated that he had been drinking and he smelled heavily of alcoholic beverage. Gayer had a blank "thousand yard.
A Taurus Firearms 357 revolver serial number EY50881 was found where he
stated it was and it was loaded with 4 live and 1 spent round. The deputy wrote that he had already spoken with Gayer twice before that evening in regards to his neighbors having a moving van that was partially stuck in his front yard. The first call was at 9:16 p.m.
An open can of Budweiser beer on top and had several .357 casings that Guyer said were in the top drawer. Due to the statements made by Bolvin, Beheler, and Gayer, along with the recovery of a handgun, Gayer was taken into custody and charged with using a firearm while under the influence.
Gayer was transported to the Spartanburg County Jail after evidence and statements were collected. Per NCIC the revolver came back negative stolen.
