Man Charged With Impersonating Police Officer

Christopher King taken into custody at BMW in Greer.

A man alleged to have impersonated a police officer was taken into custody Thursday at BMW in Greer, according to an incident report.

The man, identified as 24-year-old Christopher King, is alleged to have stopped a Duncan couple on Highway 296 on May 8 and accusing them of speeding, the report said. When asked if he was a police officer, he stated that he was and gave his name when asked. 

The victim's were able to give Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies the tag number of the suspect's car, described as a silver Hyundai.

King remained in the Spartanburg County Detention Center Thursday. His bond has been set at $5,000.
