Man Drowns In Greer While Trying To Save Child

A 61-year-old man died while trying to save his grandchild from drowning.

A 61-year-old man died Sunday night in Lake Robinson after he tried to rescue his granddaughter from the water, WSPA reports. 

The Greenville County Coroner's Office confirmed the incident happened at roughly 6 p.m. Sunday, about 100 feet off the shore in Lake Robinson in Greer. 

Ronald White, 61, reportedly jumped in the water to save his 4-year-old granddaughter, who had fallen in. While putting a vest on the child, White struggled and disappeared into the water.

He was found at 7 p.m., roughly an hour after the incident occurred.
