Man Shot In Taylors, Suspect Arrested

A man was shot on West Lee Road in Taylors late Thursday night.

A 23-year-old man shot in the chest late Thursday night in Taylors is expected to recover from his wound, and the man who shot him is now behind bars, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.  

At around 11 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to 1005 West Lee Road in response to a gunshot victim in the parking lot. Upon arrival to scene, the victim, who has not been identified, had already been taken to Greenville Memorial. Further investigation revealed the victim and the suspect, Jernarvis Patterson, had gotten into an argument and physical altercation. After the altercation, Patterson fired several rounds at the victim, one of which struck him in the chest.

At roughly 1 a.m., Patterson turned himself in at the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center. He faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is currently awaiting a bond hearing while being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.

The victim was taken into surgery and is expected to recover from his injuries, the GCSO stated in a release on the crime.
