Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers

Non-profit organization provides food to the homebound in Greenville County

Meals On Wheels of Greenville County is adjusting to a change in volunteerism, and in doing so, is seeking willing participants in their service program.

“The end of summer is a transitional time for Meals on Wheels, and currently we have open routes every day of the week throughout the county, including the areas of Taylors, Simpsonville, Fountain Inn, Mauldin, Ware Place, and Travelers Rest,” said Kerri Brison, Meals on Wheels director of volunteer services.

Meals on Wheels works with volunteers to find a compatible route that works with a person’s schedule, availability, and location within Greenville County, Brison said.

Meals on Wheels, a non-profit group that works solely on private donations, without any assistance from the government or United Way, provides roughly 1,500 meals to the homebound every day in Greenville County.

“With the start of school and the end of summer getaways, Meals on Wheels is a great opportunity for anyone looking to volunteer their time,” Brison said. “We rely on our volunteers, and our ability to serve more homebound neighbors is directly related to our ability to recruit volunteers.”
