Moore Teacher Wins National Battery Day Contest

In honor of National Battery Day, Batteries Plus, the world’s leading specialty battery franchise, chose a grand prize winner to win a year’s supply of batteries and Moore teacher Nicole Ashley was the big winner!

Mrs. Ashley is a previous Teacher of the Year at Anderson Mill Elementary and has been with the Spartanburg County School District 6 for over 25 years. Mrs. Ashley inspires a love of learning in her class and uses flashlights within her classroom for multiple subjects. For all of the first-grade students, they use their flashlights for math and encourages her students to read books with flashlights during their reading time on Fridays. She was nominated by student Cameron Hilburn and his aunt, Kelly Kanan. Batteries Plus knew she was a perfect choice as the National Battery Day winner and received her winnings on Friday.

This contest, which ran from February 15-29, gives consumers the opportunity to receive a 12-month supply of free AA and AAA batteries while also selecting and rewarding a local teacher in their community with the same prize for their classroom. This was the second annual National Battery Day contest.
