The Greenville Humane Society is hoping that running enthusiasts who also have a soft spot in their hearts for their four-legged friends will take part in a new event Saturday aimed at helping fund the organization.
The Greenville Humane Society, in conjunction with Papa John's, will hold the first Mutt Strut 5K Run/Walk on Saturday.
The event invites individuals, families, competitive athletes, runners of all levels and even the competitors' dogs to participate in the event, which will lead through along the Swamp Rabbit Trail and into Cleveland Park.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greenville at 847 Cleveland Street, and will end at Cleveland Park. After the race, live music refreshments will be offered to the competitors. Registration runs through the day of the race.
All proceeds will go to the Greenville Humane Society.
