Mrs. Marie Benson McKown, 78, widow of Reid McKown, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her home.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Corrie Strom Benson.
Mrs. McKown was a legal secretary for a number of years, after which she was associated with Benson Chrysler Dodge Jeep. She later assisted her late husband at McKown's Florist in Greer. She was a member of Victor Baptist Church. Marie will be remembered for her smile, her laughter and as an encourager which blessed all during her illness.
She is survived by her loving family, her brothers and sisters-in-law, William Strom "Sonny"and Louise Benson of Lyman Lake, SC and James Henry "Jim" and Evelyn Benson, Jr. of Simpsonville, SC; her nieces, Leesa B. Crow, Dana B. Brant, and Karen M. Lee; her nephew, Tony Benson; grand-nieces, Lauren, Brooke, Connelly and Jenna; grand-nephews, Jimmy, Alex, Ashby and Matthew; and her god-daughter, Stephanie W. Wrenn. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Sondra Ellen in infancy.
Services will be 2:30pm Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at The Mackey Mortuary with the Reverend Les Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer. The family will receive from 1:00pm until 2:15pm prior to the service at the mortuary.
The family is at the home of Jim and Evelyn Benson.
