Obituary: Mildred Hunter Pitts of Greer

Mrs. Mildred Hunter Pitts, 107, formerly of Old Spartanburg Road, Greer, SC, widow of Reverend Lee Pitts, died March 9, 2013 at Alpha Health and Rehab of Greer, SC.

She was born in Cheraw, SC and was the daughter of the late James Alexander Hunter and Mary Willoughby Hunter.

Mrs. Pitts attended Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, SC. She graduated from Greenwood High School, and Draughn's Business School. She was employed for many years with J.P. Stevens of Greer, SC.

She is survived by a step daughter-in-law, Lib Pitts of Spartanburg, SC; a nephew, John Harold Hudson, Jr. and a niece, Gayle Hudson and her husband, Dr. Jimmie E. Harley all of Greer, SC. She is also survived by six great nieces and four great nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Maude Hunter Hudson; her brother-in-law, John Harold Hudson, Sr.; two half brothers, Van and Clyde Hunter and a niece, Sarah Atha Hudson Turner and her husband, Reverend Tom Turner of Lyman, SC.

Mrs. Pitts was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors, SC.

The family would like to express appreciation to the employees of Alpha Health and Rehab, to Ark Hospice, and to her family and church members who visited her so faithfully.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, Greer, SC, conducted by Dr. Ralph Carter and Dr. Jimmie Harley. Burial will follow in the Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Taylors, SC.
