A 36-year-old man stopped for speeding in Greer was jailed for trafficking marijuana.
Greer police said that Jeremiah Sky Swanson was stopped May 20 after speeding along Highway 14. An officer running radar in the area clocked Swanson driving 54 in a 35-mph zone, according to an incident report. The officer caught up to Swanson as he was turning into a Subway at Hammett Bridge Road.
As Sky stepped from the vehicle, an officer told him that he was being stopped for speeding and to sit back down in his vehicle. As the officer approached the vehicle, the report stated that there was a strong smell of marijuana and the driver seemed nervous.

The incident report said that Sky gave the officer his driver's license, but said that it was suspended for tickets. The officer patted Sky down, finding several rolls of paper money in Sky's pockets. When the officer asked if the man had marijuana on him or in the car, he responded that it was in the car.
Upon search of the vehicle, the officer found 9 one-gallon bags of marijuana and a 12-pound "brick" of marijuana, the report said. The car also had digital scales, a box of Hefty one-gallon baggies, several ledgers containing names and addresses, as well as several rolls of money.

According to the report, police seized $8,147 during the stop.
Sky is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on no bond.
