Taylors Teen Killed In Greer Wreck

A one-vehicle wreck near Greer late Tuesday night claims the life of one.

A 16-year-old Taylors girl perished in an automobile crash late Tuesday night when her SUV flipped into a river near Greer. 

Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that at roughly 11:01, Victoria Humphries, the driver of a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, was driving his vehicle westbound on S.C. 14 near River Road. 

Humphries, a student at Greer Middle College, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, running off the left side of the road and striking a guard rail before the Jeep overturned into the adjacent Greer Reservoir.

Humphries, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected into the water, and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Humphries died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office. Humphries' Facebook page showed she was a rising junior at Greer Middle College, and a lifeguard at Otter Creek Water Park.
