Project Near Inland Port Looking for Additional Tenants
Facility adjacent to port expected to be competed by Nov. 1, with an eye on further expansion.

A facility under construction that's seeking to capitalize on Greer's inland port is looking for additional tenants, GSA Business reported Tuesday.
Illinois-based CenterPoint Properties is currently building a 417,00-square-foot distribution facility for an unnamed tenant near the under-construction port on Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport-owned land.
"CenterPoint Chief Development Officer Michael Murphy said the $20 million project so far is the only new building taking shape on the airport’s acreage that backs up to the inland port off the Verne Smith Parkway. He said the building design allows for expansion from 417,000 up to 715,000 square feet," according to the report.
GSP is working with CenterPoint to develop land around the port to take advantage of the business the port is expected to generate when it's completed later this year. The $47 million rail container yard will link overnight rail service to the Port of Charleston.
The tenant in the new facility being built remains a secret. GSP President and CEO Dave Edwards told the paper he expects mainly distribution and logistics facilities, and perhaps some light-assembly operations, to locate adjacent to the port.
