Reece Kicks Off Petition Drive

Tommie Reece is hoping her supporters will gather enough signatures to put her on the ballot in November.

Weeks after being kicked off the ballot in the race for the District 6 seat in the South Carolina Senate, Tommie Reece has officially kicked off a new kind of campaign aimed at giving her another shot in November. 

Reece announced Monday that her petition drive had officially begun. Those wishing to sign the petition may do so at the offices of Reece & Associates at 800 East Washington STreet, Suite C, in Greenville on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. 

Reece, a Greenville County School Board member who hopes to see her name pitted against longtime incumbent Sen. Mike Fair, just three days before the primary because she did not file her statement of economic interest at the same time she officially declared her intention to run for the seat.

Fair was able  by a 54 percent to 46 percent margin in the June 12 primary. Reece will have to gather the signatures of five percent of the registered active voters in the district to get her name on the ballot.
