Saturday Event Will Raise Awareness for Organ, Eye, Tissue Donations

LifePoint and Donate Life South Carolina will sponsor Linking Hands for Life beginning at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Peace Center.

Organ, eye and tissue donations are needed.

And on Saturday, the public is invited to raise awareness for the need for donors during LifePoint and Donate Life South Carolina's Upstate Linking Hands for Life at 12:15 p.m. at the Peace Center.

A symbolic chain representing the cycle of life will be formed as those in attendance join hands to remember and give thanks for organ donors.

Live music by The Welcome Wheel begins at 12:15 p.m. followed by the Linking Hands ceremony.

According to LifePoint, every 10 minutes another person is added to the national transplant waiting list.

Currently, more than 117,000 people are on the national transplant waiting list and approximately 1,000 of them are on the South  Carolina waiting list.
