Sheriff's Office receiving tips on sexual assault

Investigators still searching for man who sexually assaulted, beat woman

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office are following multiple leads in hopes of identifying and tracking down the man responsible for a .

"I know Crime Stoppers has received some tips, and those are being forwarded to the investigators," said Master Deputy Jennings Autrey, a spokesman for the office.

On Aug. 20, a 40-year-old woman was carjacked at the intersection of West Lee Road and Donnan Road in Taylors. The victim was found the next morning roughly a half-mile away from where the carjacking took place, at the intersection of Meridian Avenue and Bob White Lane.

Deputies found the victim unconscious, with bruising across much of her body. She also had been sexually assaulted.

Autrey said the Sheriff's Office was not aware of any similar incidents just prior to the event, or since, also noting that there had not been any complaints about suspicious activity in the area of the crime.

"It really seems like its an isolated incident. We haven't seen any other reports come across from there," Autrey said.

Investigators have developed a sketch of the man based on the victim's description of the suspect. The assailant is believed to be a Hispanic male.
