Somers Announces Run For State Senate
Greer business owner is running for the District 5 Senate seat.
Amanda Somers, co-owner of Sports Spine & Industrial Physical Therapy (SSI), announced her candidacy for South Carolina's Senate District 5 seat on Wednesday.
"My decision to seek election to the SC Senate is attributed to spending nearly 30 years residing in the district," Somers said. "The 5th District deserves a senator that is in touch with community needs, has business experience and is willing to stand up for it's constituents over the Senate leadership."
Somers, a graduate of Riverside High School and Clemson University, as well as the Medical University of South Carolina, comes from a business background. Besides being a small business owner, she also has served as chair of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was named the South Carolina Small Business Person of the Year in 2007.
