
Traffic was blocked on Interstate 85 in Greer for much of the afternoon due to a large downed tree, while neighborhoods in Taylors saw multiple trees toppled as a powerful storm swept through the area Thursday afternoon.
A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect from roughly 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in much of Greenville County, and the weather system packed a punch, with strong winds, frequent lightning and heavy rains moving across the Taylors and Greenville area.
Duke Energy reported some 3,212 customers were out of power in Greenville as of 9:15 p.m., while some locations in Taylors saw other effects, like a traffic lights out at the intersections of St. Mark Road at Wade Hampton Boulevard, Reid School Road at Wade Hampton Boulevard and Edwards Road at Wade Hampton Boulevard.

In the Pebble Creek community, a 100-foot tree fell across the fourth tee at the Creekside golf course, while other reports of downed trees in the Reid School Road and Edwards Mill community were also reported.
