UPDATE: Taylors Resident, Assistant Principal Charged with 1980s Sex Crimes
Deputies have charged William Terry Broadus, a former teacher at Lakeview Middle School, with one count of lewd act with a minor and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has charged an assistant principal and former teacher in connection with a sex crimes investigation.
William Terry Broadus, 53, of 5 Red Cardinal Court, was arrested on Monday afternoon by deputies.
The Crimes Against Children Unit at the Sheriff's Office has been investigating allegations against Broadus, who is reported to have engaged in sexual activity with a student at Lakeview Middle School between 1984 and 1986, while he was a teacher at the school.

On Monday, investigators charged him with one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and one count of lewd act upon a child under 16.
Broadus has been on administrative leave since Sept. 16 from Chandler Creek Elementary School, where he was currently serving as an assistant principal, after the Sheriff's Office notified the district of the investigation. A spokesperson for the school district said that Broadus has been employed at Chandler Creek since 2000.

The majority of these alleged incidents occurred away from school property, but the victim did indicate that at least one incident occurred at Lakeview Middle School, deputies said.
Broadus was released from the Greenville County Detention Center on $30,000 bond on Tuesday morning.
