Taylors Resident, Red Cross Worker Going to Boston
Brian Scoles, chief public affairs officer for the Western Carolinas Region of the American Red Cross, will leave for Boston Tuesday to assist with communications following the explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
A Taylors resident will go to Boston to help Tuesday.
Brian Scoles, chief public affairs officer for the Western Carolinas Region of the American Red Cross, has been dispatched to Boston after two explosions near the finish line of Monday's Boston Marathon killed several people and injured many others.
Scoles said that he will be working to support local communications efforts in Boston.

Scoles said that a call for volunteers from South Carolina had not been issued by the American Red Cross as of Monday evening.

At least 42 runners from the Upstate area had registered for Monday's race. Patch has confirmed that at least 18 of those runners are safe.
Red Cross's Safe and Well site allows users to search for runners by name to check on their status.
