TR Man Dies in Fourth of July Fireworks Incident

A Travelers Rest man has died as the result of a fireworks incident on Fourth of July.

Multiple media outlets have reported that 54-year-old Robin Rhodes Smith was attempting to light a firework when it launched and struck him in the chest.

WYFF reported, Smith went in to cardiac arrest and died on the way to the hospital.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis told WYFF the Ellis said the official cause of death was penetrating blunt force trauma to the chest. The death has been ruled accidental.
