Arrest, Citations Made In Eastside Fight

A 16-year-old and 17-year-old were both taken into custody following a fight in the parking lot of Eastside High School.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office released more information Wednesday on the fight that caused a major disturbance during dismissal Tuesday at . 

At roughly 3:50 p.m., the school resource officer at Eastside was standing in front of the school during dismissal when he saw a large crowd of students walking together through the parking lot. Two students then squared off and began to fight. 

The deputy reportedly tried to verbally and physically stop the fight, but both students, identified as a 16-year-old minor and 17-year-old Tariq Alfuquan Minter, refused to comply.

When the deputy was unable to control the situation, he fired his Taser at Minter, striking him in the back. The Taser proved ineffective, however, as Minter fled the scene on foot. He was found a short time later at a nearby fast food restaurant. 

Minter was uninjured, and charged with public disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The 16-year-old, who is not being identified due to his status as a minor, was charged with public disorderly conduct and released to his parents. Minter is being held at Greenville County Detention Center on $5,263 bond.
