Upstate Duke Customers Getting Power Back
At one point thousands of Duke Energy customers in Greenville and Pickens Counties were without power in wake of the severe weather that swept through the area Sunday night.

Thousands of people throughout the Upstate were still without power Monday morning, though only a few hundred Duke Energy customers in Greenville County had not yet had their electricity restored by noon after severe weather swept through the area late Sunday.
More than 2,000 outages were reported in Greenville County early Monday morning as heavy rains and winds set in after a scorching heat wave spawned a powerful summer thunderstorm system. By noon, only 358 Greenville customers had reported outages, according to Duke Energy's web site.
Jason Walls, spokesperson for Duke Energy, said the outage locations, spread throughout Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, Spartanburg and Laurens Counties, began reporting the problems as early as Sunday afternoon.
