Upstate Man Accused of Biting, Abusing Toddler

A Travelers Rest man is in jail after being accused of biting and abusing a toddler.

William Matthew Guthrie is charged with unlawful neglect of a child and assault and battery, according to jail records.

According to a WYFF article, Travelers Rest police said on Sept. 15 an officer and detective were called to a home on North Main Street about allegations of abuse to a toddler.

The child’s mother told police she found bruises and bite marks on the child. The child is in protective custody.

Guthrie is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
