USC Upstate Assistant Arrested For Threats

Colton Hodge arrested for threatening USC Upstate's athletic director.

Colton Hodge, a volunteer assistant track and field coach at USC Upstate, has been arrested for posting videos that were construed as threatening to the school's athletics director, WSPA reports. 

On Monday, the university confirmed it had received word about a video post late Saturday evening directed at Athletic Director Mike Hall that has prompted a university police department investigation. 

Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, USC Upstate Police, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, arrested Hodge and charged him with threatening the life of a public official and two charges related the dissemination of obscene material.

On July 13, Colton Hodge, a former volunteer track and field coaching assistant, posted a video of himself on YouTube. In the video, Hodge asks S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley to help in his quest to become the athletics director for USC Upstate. 

The video contained profanity and thinly veiled threats against Hall, including phrases such as the athletic director was "flirting with death," and "you can die in the blink of an eye."
