Vehicle stolen at local gym

Suspect fled on foot

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of an automobile early Thursday morning at a local gym. 

According to Lt. Mike Hildebrand, the sheriff's office received a call at 5:14 a.m. in reference to a suspicious person going in and out of Pivotal Fitness gym on Old Spartanburg Road. 

Five minutes later, deputies spotted the subject at a nearby McDonald's on Old Spartanburg Road.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, fled on foot, and has not been located. A van stolen from the gym parking lot also was found at McDonald's. 

Roughly an hour later, another phone call was received from Pivotal Fitness in regards to four sets of keys that had been stolen from the front desk area, where customers leave their car keys while they exercise. One of the sets of stolen keys were for the van that had been found, which was stolen while a 50-year-old man was working out inside the gym. The victim's wallet and cell phone had been left in the car.
