Victim Dies Almost Two Months After Assault

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday that the victim of an Aug. 8 assault in Travelers Rest died on Tuesday.

Zach Hinton, the Sheriff's Office public information officer, released the following statement regarding the incident:

"The suspect charged in the case was David Darnell (see attached mug shot) and was charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.  The victim was initially taken to Greenville Hospital to be treated for his injuries.  The Sheriff’s Office was notified that the victim died on October 4th at Roger C. Peace hospital.  Investigator’s with the Sheriff’s Office are taking a look back at the original incident and have turned the case file over to the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office to determine if charges should be amended."
