Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Minnesota

The ticket was sold in Dakota County and makes it the largest lottery win in the state

One person in Minnesota is rich!

Or at least they will be when they cash in the winning Powerball ticket from Wednesday night's drawing.

According to the Minnesota State Lottery, one ticket matched the numbers 11-18-36-41-46 and the Powerball of 38 to win the $228.9 million Powerball jackpot.

Lottery officials said the ticket was sold in Dakota County, making it the largest jackpot ever won in Minnesota.

The ticket holder has one year from the date of the drawing to claim the prize, according to a press release. After the winner comes forward, he or she has 60 days to choose the annuity payment of $228.9 million or the cash option of $123.6 million ($83.7 million after tax withholding).

Lottery officials said the holder of the jackpot ticket should sign the back of the ticket immediately and call the Lottery’s Public Relations department at (651) 635-8271 to validate the ticket.

This is Minnesota’s 21st Powerball jackpot winner since Powerball began in 1992, and the first jackpot winner since May 3, 2008, according to the lottery.
