Woman Charged with Assaulting Greer Police Officer

An officer responding to a call for a suspicious person was allegedly slapped three times at the incident location.

A Greer police officer responding to a deal with a suspicious person was allegedly assaulted by the suspect, while at the incident location.

Beth Few, 63, of 102 Hidden Springs Lane, Taylors, was charged with Assault and Battery on Police and Resisting Arrest, after slapping a police officer three times.

According to an incident report, the officer responded to 407 N. Main Street, Greer, April 14 to deal with a suspicious person. The officer wrote that as he approached the residence, Few walked down the front steps of the home with an object, later identified as a TV remote control, in her hand. Few then jumped toward the officer, grabbed one of his hands and then forced the remote control into his other hand.

At that time, the incident report said Few reached up and and slapped the officer in the left cheek three times  and said, "You tell (man's name) I hope he's happy."

When the officer told Few that she couldn't hit an officer, she responded, "I didn't even hurt you," the report said.

The officer attempted to place Few under arrest, but she began to yell and argue with the officer. The report said Few tried to turn away from him, once one of her hands was cuffed.

When the officer transported Few to Greer Police Department, she complained that her shoulder was hurting and that she could not get out of the car. When the officer attempted to help Few out of the vehicle, the report said Few jumped from the vehicle and ran away from the officer while yelling, "don't you touch me."

According to the report, medical assistance was offered to Few for her shoulder pain, but she refused treatment.

Few was transported to the Greenville County Detention Center, where she was later released on a $1,093 bond.
